Battersea Park

Best for: Cyclists

Battersea Park covers 200 acres and is a great place for adults and children. It is great for children primarily due to the Children’s Zoo and lovely duck pond. However, the park also has an art gallery (The Pump House), a beautiful lake and it is a great place to cycle.

Greenwich Park

Best for: Sunsets

This park may well be our favourite on the list, purely down to the fact that The Royal Observatory is situated there. Here you can stand on the Meridian line at the home of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). The Royal Observatory also hosts the Planetarium; an amazing experience for those interested in the Universe and Astronomy. The park feels very safe and has the Pavilion Café for refreshments, and it is set on a hill which many people use to watch the sunrise and sunset.

Brockwell Park

Best for: Sports

Brockwell Park is one of the smaller parks on our list covering 84 acres. It is located between Brixton, Dulwich and Herne Hill. The park has a lido, clock tower, football pitch, basketball and tennis courts and a cricket net and is perfect for sport loving locals. This park isn’t particularly showy if you are a tourist, but it’s a great green space for locals.

Clapham Common

Best for: Social Gatherings

Home to the South West Four Festival, this park is set in over 220 acres of green space which includes a café, skate park, tennis courts, a paddling pool, three ponds and lots of Australian and New Zealand local residents who flock to the park. It’s a great place for all ages and in particular, young adults wanting to have a picnic and an alcoholic drink.
