Fed by Water

Perfect for: a passionate and pure menu

Fed by Water is a vegan Italian restaurant in Hackney. The food, as its name suggests, is made with purified water. Free from limescale, bacteria and chlorine, the dishes here are both tasty and good for you.
Dishes include Spaghetti Alla Carbonara, made with durum wheat spaghetti, onions cooked with smoked tofu, turmeric and soya cream topped with crispy home-made culatella chunks and a twist of black pepper. Yum. They also do pizza and a range of authentic Italian dishes.

Antonio’s Kitchen

Perfect for: a real deal Italian experience

This is truly the best place to head for pasta. The food is so good here you’ll have several ‘I-can’t-believe-it’s-vegan’ moments. Made with fresh ingredients and clearly made with love, Antonio’s dishes feature all the classics such as piadina bread, ravioli, tagliatelle and parmigiana. Bring your own bottle and enjoy no corkage charge. Oh, and leave a little room for the hazelnut crepes too. Heavenly.

Unity Diner

Perfect for: a ‘diner’ date

Who doesn’t love a date at the diner? Offering all the diner classics we love, here you can enjoy versions of well-known and wonderful favourites. The restaurant offers a place to eat that’s creative yet compassionate about healthy food.
There are too many good dishes to mention but here are a few: seitan fried chikken wings, macaroni cheeze and bakon, chickpea and seitan steak and the tofish burger (ale battered tofu wrapped in nori seaweed). They all look mouth-wateringly delicious. We recommend you go with a group of friends, order the lot and share.
Nearest station: Shoreditch High Street or Liverpool Street (it’s about 15 minute walk from both of these, but you can also hop on a bus)
Address: 5 Hoxton Market, London, N1 6HG

The Spread Eagle

Perfect for: those wanting a pub vibe but vegan food

The Spread Eagle is not only one of London’s oldest pubs, it’s also London’s only fully plant-based pub – from the furnishings and fixtures to the drinks and food, it’s all vegan. Complete with a wall dedicated to Prince, great vibes and good music, The Spread Eagle is quite frankly, just awesome.
Their kitchen is run by Club Mexican who deliver up - in their own words - ‘totally banging Mexican-inspired street food;. Get in the spirit of things and order a margarita with your tacos. Fun, colourful and vibrant, it’s all good but we especially loved the the tofish tacos. You’ll find it hard to choose from the menu – which is what makes their shareable food so great. Our top tip: leave room for the deep fried ice cream.
Nearest Station: Homerton Overground
Address: 224 Homerton High Street, E9 6as
